Would you recommend a woman, who is approaching 40 and done having children, seek out an Ob/Gyn with Women's Specialists or an Internist with Internal Medicine Assoc as her primary care physician?
Shaun Gillis, MD answered:
Thank you for your question. As you know both ob/gyn and internists provide primary care. It depends on what your needs are. If you are generally healthy or have minimal health concerns then an ob/gyn is a great option. If you have health concerns such as diabetes, heart disease, cholesterol or blood pressure problems or a significant family history that you are worried about, an internist is a better option. The important thing is that you find a physician you feel comfortable with.
