BIG SKY HEALTH SCREENING DAY

Free & reduced price health screenings
Thursday, August 28, 2014
8:00 am-1:00 pm
Big Sky Health Screening day is on Thursday, August 28 from 8 am to 1 pm. We'll have a number of free screenings available including blood pressure, body mass, glucose and bone density and health education materials. The drug enforcement agency will take back unused and unwanted prescription drugs.

The following laboratory procedures are offered at a reduced cost. You must FAST for 12 hours before the blood draw. Sorry, no appointments.

Comprehensive Chemistry Screening ($30.00)
Includes the following:
Lipid Panel measuring Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL Cholesterol, LDL Cholesterol, and your risk ratio for developing coronary artery disease
TSH or Thyroid Stimulating Hormone levels
White Blood Cell (WBC) Count, Red Blood Cell (RBC) Count, Hemoglobin, Hematocrit, Platelet Count, Glucose, BUN, Creatinine, Sodium (Na), Potassium (K), Chloride (Cl), CO2, Uric Acid, Calcium, Phosphorus, Total Protein, Albumin, Total Bilirubin, Magnesium, AST, ALT, Alkaline Phosphatase, and Iron levels

Colon Cancer, ($15.00)
A simple and effective screen for colon cancer and other gastrointestinal conditions. A wand in a vial supplied by the laboratory is used to puncture a stool sample. When the test is developed in the lab, occult (hidden) blood can be detected.

Hemoglobin A1C, ($19.00)
Used to monitor the glucose control of diabetics over time. The A1C test result gives a picture of the average amount of glucose in the blood over the last few months. The A1C test is also used to help newly diagnosed diabetics determine how elevated their uncontrolled blood glucose levels have been.

Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), ($20.00)
Elevations of PSA are useful in early detection of prostate cancer. It is important to note that about one-third of men with elevated PSA did not have cancer and as many as 30% of localized cancers of the prostate were negative.

C-reactive protein screens, ($16.00)
A growing body of evidence suggests that C-Reactive protein, which is a marker for inflammation, may be as crucial as cholesterol in assessing the risk of heart attack. Healthy individuals have only trace amounts in their blood.

Typing, ($20.00)
Used to determine your blood group and what type of blood or blood components you can safely receive.

Vitamin D, ($30.00)
Vitamin D is important to promote calcium absorption in your body, which also helps with bone metabolism. Vitamin D deficiency may contribute to several types of cancer, osteoporosis, diabetes, high blood pressure, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
