DR. GERALD GROGGEL NAMED MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF THE FRESENIUS MEDICAL CARE BOZEMAN DIALYSIS CENTER
MAY 22, 2012Bozeman Deaconess Health Services announced today that Nephrologist Gerald Groggel, MD, FACP, of Bozeman Deaconess Nephrology has been named Medical Director of the Fresenius Medical Care Bozeman Dialysis Center as of May 1.
Dr. Groggel, who is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology, is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and nephrology fellowships at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and Boston University School of Medicine.
Dr. Groggels interests include all aspects of nephrology but he specializes in treating chronic kidney disease, particularly diabetic nephropathy. Other specialized interests include critical care nephrology, transplantation, immunological injury in the kidney, and treating various forms of glomerulonephritis. Dr. Groggel has expertise in treating difficult to control hypertension. He joined the medical staff at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital in 2010.
According to Dr. Groggel, Were pleased to offer expanded medical care and capacity for patients with chronic kidney conditions in southwestern Montana, as well as those who travel to our community. Dr. Groggel also provides nephrology services in Butte.
Fresenius Medical Care recently purchased the Bozeman Dialysis Center that offers outpatient medical care to dialysis patients. The center will continue to operate in its current location at 931 Highland Blvd, Suite 3105 on the Bozeman Deaconess Medical campus. A renovation is scheduled for summer to expand the center to allow for more patients to be treated and the introduction of a home dialysis program. Currently the center holds 6 dialysis chairs and treats 31 patients per month. An expansion will allow many more patients, including travelers to the community, to receive dialysis treatment.
