KOHL’S DEPARTMENT STORES DONATES $9,792 TO BOZEMAN DEACONESS FOR HEALTHY LIVING EDUCATION PROGRAM

SEPTEMBER 23, 2013
Bozeman Deaconess Health Services, with financial support from Kohl’s Cares®, is helping kids learn to choose nutritious foods, eat better and live a healthy lifestyle through Kohl’s Kids Eat Smart during the Women’s Fall Expo at Montana State University’s Strand Union Building Ballrooms, from 10 am to 5 pm on September 28. The 11th Annual Expo focuses on the best health and wellness, fitness and family offerings in the Gallatin Valley.

Representatives from Kohl’s Cares will present a check for $9,792 to Bozeman Deaconess Health Services at 1 pm on the Main Stage. These funds are used for the Kohl’s Kids Eat Smart program at BDHS to help prevent childhood obesity and educate people on how to eat healthy, balanced, nutritious meals and snacks. Expo attendees will be able to pick up free recipe cards with healthy recipes and Kohl’s Kids East Smart health tips, and register for upcoming Kohl’s Kids Cooking Classes that begin in October.

“Preventing childhood obesity and promoting healthy, active lifestyles for our children is an important way to reduce health risks later in life,” said Kevin Pitzer, president and CEO of Bozeman Deaconess Health Services. “This program is one way we meet our mission to improve community health and quality of life, specifically directed at ensuring the health of our children.”

Since 2012, Kohl’s has donated more than $15,000 to Bozeman Deaconess Health Services. Kohl’s made its first contribution to the Bozeman Kohl’s Kids Eat Smart initiative during the 2012 BDHS Family Wellness Day Health Fair with a check presentation for $5,444.

Kohl's commitment to Bozeman Deaconess Health Services is made possible through the Kohl's Cares cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys, with 100 percent of net profit benefiting children’s health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one. Kohl's has raised more than $231 million through this merchandise program. In addition to the merchandise program, Kohl's Cares features the Kohl's Cares® Scholarship Program, which last year recognized more than 2,300 young volunteers with more than $400,000 in scholarships and prizes. Through Kohl’s Associates in Action volunteer program, more than 669,000 associates have donated more than 2.2 million hours of their time since 2001, and Kohl’s has donated more than $63 million to youth-focused nonprofit organizations.
