BOZEMAN DEACONESS FOUNDATION’S HISTORIC CORNERSTONE CAMPAIGN EXCEEDS $9 MILLION GOAL
SEPTEMBER 4, 2012Four years ago, Bozeman Deaconess Foundation (BDF) began the process of organizing an ambitious capital campaign in support of a new, expanded Emergency Services Department. Today the foundation announced that the campaign has exceeded its $9 million goal, successfully concluding the most significant fundraising effort in the 101 year history of Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.
“We are extraordinarily grateful for the generosity that people in the community, including physicians and hospital employees, have demonstrated during this entire process,” said Terry Cunningham, Chairman for the Bozeman Deaconess Health Services Board of Trustees. “Clearly, it was more than the enormous outpouring of gift commitments to the campaign. It was also the spirit with which everyone here supported the effort. Without their time, energy, and dedication, there was little chance we’d reach our goal. We raised more than $9 million from over 1,000 donors during a very difficult economic time, which clearly demonstrates remarkable commitment to the hospital.”
The fundraising effort, entitled The Cornerstone Campaign…Realizing the Vision for Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, is helping to fund a $15 million expansion of the Emergency Services Department at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, which broke ground in March of 2010. Phase One of the construction effort was completed this past July and Phase Two is scheduled for completion in January 2013.
The $15 million emergency services project features 26 rooms with 28 beds, a dramatic escalation from the 10 rooms that existed prior to the campaign. Patient rooms are private, efficient, and built to modern-day emergency care standards. Designated triage and trauma rooms facilitate high quality, compassionate care in a timely manner. State-of-the-art equipment and technology has been innovatively incorporated into patient care areas. The result will be quicker diagnoses, more convenience and privacy, the ability to move patients more quickly through an often-traumatic experience, and consequently the ability to care for more patients. The entire space will be modifiable for future growth and to accommodate emerging services and techniques.
“There is a wonderful sense of community here in the Gallatin Valley, and we thank everyone who came forward to help with this effort,” said Gordon Davidson, Interim CEO of Bozeman Deaconess Health Services. “Certainly, the expanded Emergency Services Department will help us address the continued growth in the number of patients needing emergency services, but the campaign’s success represents so much more than that. We are extremely pleased that people understand the value of their support, and understand our need to provide quality services in the changing healthcare environment in which we all live. We are well positioned for the future now, and it’s due to the commitment of so many in Bozeman.”
Debra Gill, Executive Vice President of Philanthropy for Bozeman Deaconess Foundation expressed that fund raising will always be an essential part of sustaining services at Bozeman Deaconess. “With the ER campaign complete, we will now turn our energies toward Bozeman Deaconess Cancer Center which needs a new linear accelerator for radiation treatment and expanded space for chemotherapy,” said Gill, adding “we are also seeking support for 3-D digital mammography for earlier diagnosis of breast cancer.
