MJ MURDOCK CHARITABLE TRUST GRANTS $250,000 TO BOZEMAN DEACONESS CANCER CENTER
OCTOBER 11, 2013Bozeman Deaconess Foundation is proud to announce the approval of a $250,000 top-off grant from the MJ Murdock Charitable Trust of Vancouver, WA to expand radiation oncology services at Bozeman Deaconess Cancer Center. This grant is designated toward the special vault which will house the new, state-of-art Linear Accelerator. This accelerator includes a build-in CT scanner which will enable our medical staff to provide high doses of radiation therapy directly to tumors while sparing healthy surrounding tissue. The benefit to patients will be significant. For instance, a prostate cancer patient receiving daily treatments over a nine-week period could instead be treated with five treatments over a three-week period. The new technology will be installed and ready to use in 2014.
The MJ Murdock Charitable Trust’s goal is to help Bozeman Deaconess Foundation raise $2 million toward this effort. The foundation has already raised $1 million. Therefore, once an additional $750,000 is committed through pledges or outright gifts, the trust will fulfill the $250,000 top-off grant. This is the fourth grant Bozeman Deaconess Foundation has received from the MJ Murdock Trust for a total of $1 million since 2000. Departments supported by trust’s donations have included the Cancer Center, Heart Center and Emergency Department.
Contributions to help achieve the top-off grant can be sent to Bozeman Deaconess Foundation at 931 Highland Blvd., Suite 3200, Bozeman, MT 59715, made on-line at bozemandeaconessfoundation.org or by calling (406) 585-1085.
